I have the honour to transmit to you the

enclosed copy of a letter from the Acting Postmaster-General

forwarding applications from Mr. P. 8. D. Pereira and Mr. H.

Stell, employees of the Imperial Post Office in England, who

desire to be transferred to clerkships in the Post Office of

this Colony.

It cannot be said that the class of clerks

in the Post Office of this Colony is satisfactory, and, as the efficient working of this Office is of great importance to the

community, I have the honour to suggest that the opinion of Captain Hastings, Postmaster-General of this Colony, who is at present absent on leave in England, should be consulted on this

matter.
